Strangers

By Shruthi Jothsana ©

We are all strangers

in someone's life.

Which kind are you?

The one that sits on a bookshelf

Untouched because you were a gift?

Or a hidden souvenir meant

to be relished in secrecy?

The unreturned smile on the roads?

Or the acts that takes the form of kindness?

Perhaps a deserted one way street

that used to be a bustling bazaar?

Are you the unnoticed smile?

Or the ignored suffering?

Were you just a passing cloud?

Or a bump in the road?

Maybe once a home to heart but

now rented out and vacant?

A fleeting storm or

or an imperishable sky?

An unanswered question nevertheless?

A crowd of strangers feeling alone yet with so much in common
